Scripps is home to one of the leading diabetes care centers in Southern California, the Scripps Whittier Diabetes Institute.  Since 1981, the Institute has been dedicated to creating unique programs and tools that improve the quality of life for people with diabetes and make a positive impact in the San Diego community and beyond.

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with gestational, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes through innovative educational programs, clinical expertise, leading-edge research and professional cross-disciplinary collaborations in pursuit of prevention and a cure.

Our patient education materials contain the most up-to-date information about diabetes, and are printed in multiple languages to meet the needs of our diverse community.  A comprehensive, patient manual, “the Basics of Diabetes”, is available in English and Spanish.
